Description of Introduction course to ULM helicopters

If you love aircraft and want to learn more about them, we recommend that you sign up for this Introduction to ULM helicopters Course. This activity is aimed at all helicopter fans and does not require prior knowledge.

The Course aims to bring to all helicopter lovers the functioning and operation of this unsurpassed aeronautical machine. At the end of the course, the student will know how to handle all the basic aspects of a helicopter with ease and knowledge: from conceptual design, regulations and certification, mechanics and maintenance to flight tests.

The course includes 3 flight sessions in which the student will be able to go from theory to practice on the Dynali H3 platform. Likewise, it includes practical sessions during maintenance classes in the hangar.

The duration of the course is 60 hours, divided into 4-hour sessions every Saturday from 09:00 to 13:00. Check the course completion dates.

Syllabus contents:

  1. History of helicopters
  2. Stationary performance (momentum conservation theory, blade element theory, combined BEM theory, vortex theory)
  3. Calculation of the taper angle (Lock number)
  4. Straight and level forward translational flight
  5. Power - speed curves
  6. Dynamic paddle beating and response
  7. Profile angle of attack
  8. Torque and power
  9. Autorotation in forward flight
  10. Performance methods (service ceiling, maximum speed, range, autonomy, autorotation)
  11. H-V curve
  12. Earth Resonance
  13. ULM Spain regulations and international comparison
  14. ULM Certification
  15. Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  16. 100h aircraft inspection
  17. Human factors, flight safety and situational awareness
  18. Flight sessions

How long the activity lasts

Classes will be held every Saturday from January 14, 2017 to April 22, 2017.
