To start, we have different options:
- Snorkelling, is the diving modality that is carried out with tube, goggles and flippers, an oxygen tube is not used, so the immersions are more superficial. Mallorca, providing totally crystal clear waters, it allows you to watch and explore the seabed completely.
Where to go snorkelling in Mallorca? Some of the zones where you can enjoy this activity will be Pollença, Palma de Mallorca, Llucmajor or Islas Malgrats Natural Reservoir, in this case, there is a boat that departs from Santa Ponsa and that is only takes us 30 minutes to take you to the activity’s zone.
- Diving baptism: If you are looking for a first experience in the scuba diving in depths, to feel what is like to breathe with oxygen cylinder at various meters underwater, and meet the basic concepts about diving, your best options are the diving baptism in Mallorca. This activity is designed for those that don’t have any type of degree or previous experience in the world of scuba diving. The activity has a theory part, where you learn how to manage the equipment, to know how to breathe underwater, to purge the regulator or clean the mask. Normally, the theory sessions last around 1 hour and a half and then, whether the immersion will be in the beach or with a boat in the sea, we will go to the immersion point, and next with the instructors, we will descend to a depth with 6 to 8 meters. The duration of the immersion depends on the pulmonary capacity of each person, but normally it takes us between 30 and 45 minutes.
The minimum age to enjoy scuba diving in Mallorca is 10 years old, always with parent’s authorization. In Palma de Mallorca, Alcudia, Santa Ponsa or Arenal.
- Peter Diving system: This system allows you to carry out immersions without the need of oxygen bottle since you will breathe with a tube that exists the superficie of the waters. It is not necessary to have a precious experience, children from 8 years old, seniors and even people with discapacities can enjoy this activity.
The instructor, will give you previous briefings near the functioning of this system so you don’t need to worry, just to have fun underwater. Actually, the activity with the Peter Diving system is carried out in Palma de Mallorca, but surely, it will expand throughout the island soon.
- Diving immersion: If you already have diving degree, at least Open Water Diver or CMAS 1 Star Diver, you can enjoy one of the immersions we have available in Mallorca. One of the best areas to dive is the beach of Maioris, a popular place because its impressive submarine flora and fauna. Usually, these immersions have a duration of 45 to 50 minutes.
But, if you have everything clear and that diving is your thing, and want to learn more about this water sport, you need to jump and study the PADI Open Water Diver in Mallorca. The course consists of a theory part (that in a lot of cases can be studied on-line) and practice part. In this second part, is when the immersions are done, normally confined waters (pool) and open sea are combined, carrying out at least 5 immersions in the pool and 4 in the sea. The duration of the course lasts from 4 to 7 days, according to the time you spend each day. This course, will allow you to practice scuba diving and descend up to 18 meters in depth at any part of the world, as long as you are accompanied by an instructor. For those who want to take a step forward in the world of scuba diving, will also have the option to carry it out in Mallorca. If you already have the PADI Open Water Diver degree, you can continue your formation with the PADI Advance Open Water course. With this course, you will improve what was previously learned, and also you will have fun with immersions full of adventure like diving in the night or explore a sunken ship. You will also practice deep diving, submerging and going down, reaching 18 and 30 meters. You can even, start practicing subaquatic photos. The minimum age to do this is 15 years old.
