Son Bou Scuba has been teaching different diving courses for all levels since 2004. We also organize immersion excursions so you can try out for the first time what it's like to investigate the underwater world.
Our courses and diving trips are:
• PADI diving baptism: go underwater and discover the wonders hidden in the underwater world. You can do one or two dives.
• PADI Scuba Diver: basic diving course in which you will practice underwater up to four times. At the end of this, we will give you your official certificate.
• PADI Open Water Diver: for those who want to become professionals, we have 8 dives in which you will learn different techniques and an official certificate at the end of the course.
• PADI Adventure Diver: for those who have previous experience and want to dedicate themselves to enjoying the underwater landscapes in three dives.
• PADI Advanced Diver: for professionals who wish to expand their knowledge in this sport.
• PADI Rescue Diver: we will learn different rescue and self-rescue techniques.
• PADI Master Diver: for experts who want to go one step further and become diving instructors.
• PADI Divemaster: for the training of those who are already instructors.
Joop got his start in scuba diving in 1982, but did not practice often after earning his degree. In 1984, he finished his military service and then enlisted as a professional soldier until 1990, combining it with his working as a photographer. During six months of his service, he was stationed in the Red Sea, in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt), as part of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO), which rekindled his interest in diving.
From 1990 to 1996, he studied at the Tilburg Academy of Journalism. There he had the opportunity to work in a diving school in the Maldives for 3 or 4 months a year.
Upon completion of his studies, he received an offer to work as a full-time diving instructor in the Maldives. Despite having the option of working in an office, he decided to make diving his profession.
Between 2012 and 2015 he specialized in maritime archeology at the Syddansk Universitet in Denmark. During his training, he also gained skills as a commercial diver as part of his curriculum.
