Description of Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife

ThePatronage of the Alhambra and Generalife is an organization made up of representatives of the Spanish Government of Culture and Sports, the Granada City Council and the University of Granada.

Its objective is to promote, disseminate and preserve this great monument in order to offer visits so that visitors can take tours in which they learn about the culture and history of the palaces. It also has an educational program for school groups with the purpose of helping children develop curiosity.

The Alhambra is an architectural monument that the Sultan Alhamar ordered to be built in the 13th century on a hill that is quite difficult to access, right next to the river Darro.

Its architecture is of Islamic influence and was built with the purpose of protecting itself from enemies, although it later ended up being a place where the royalty of Granada and the Catholic Monarchs

lived.

It is made up of three palaces, The Palace of Comares, or of Yusuf I, El Mexuar, and the Palace of the Lions, or also known like the Palace of Mohammed V. Each one of them with an unmatched and unique beauty.

Walking through this place you will feel totally relaxed. You will hear the sound of water falling from its fountains, birds singing in the gardens... A spectacular experience!

The Board of Trustees frequently organizes new projects and activities that encourage dissemination among tourists. Don't miss them!
