Description of Guara

We created Guara to disseminate the tremendous possibilities of this part of the north of the Peninsula that the Pyrenean mountain range makes us uncomfortable. The reason for the magnificence of these landscapes is evident: cliffs of impressive heights, the greenness of the characteristic temperatures of the province, the natural contrasts and the ideal conditions for the breeding of certain species, for example raptors, which usually fly over us when we continue a climbing itinerary or a via ferrata.

In the area we can:

- Follow a hiking route in search of the ancient populations around the Mascún River or with the concern of seeing the footprints left by rock art on these rocks.

- Discover canyoning : no better place than the Sierra de Guara to do it for its almost infinite options for everyone. We will see beautiful pools hidden between paths of water and rock that we will only have the opportunity to overcome by jumping several meters or rappelling, that ensures the absence of the usual and concentrated tourism.

- Ascend the mountains by climbing or via ferratas available, for which holding onto the wall and climbing is sufficient condition to reach the top of our mountain range. Two of them are the Espolón de la Virgen and the Puente de Pedruel.

Description of Guara Canyoning

The Sierra de Guara offers the best canyons to begin canyoning, and other techniques, for those with experience. Guara Canyoning will show you all!

These are some of the ravines that we carry out:

- Lower peonera : it is of the aquatic type, of medium-high level. It will take us between 6 and 9 hours to complete it. It contains incredible jumps!

- Barrasil : aquatic ravine, for initiation. It is on the Alcanadre river, at the height of Rodellar. It is a .half-day ravine

- Formiga : a medium level water ravine. It is located in Panzano. It will take half a day.

- Oscuros de Balcés : a spectacular water ravine. It is an initiation, although with a lot of flow, it becomes technical. We find it in Las Almunias de Rodellar.

- Vero : an easy level water ravine in Lecina. Perfect for initiation! It will take about 6 hours, plus the approach.

- Mascún superior : it is a water ravine in which we will have to rappel. It is located in Rodellar, and it will occupy us most of the day. It's quite technical.

- Black Gorgas : a ravine with a lot of water, and a high level. It is essential to have a good physical condition to face this challenge. It is full-time.

Description of Guara Hiking

Although the Sierra de Guara is an indisputable synonym of adventure, you do not have to be a fan of extreme sports to get there. Trails stretch along dozens of kilometers where walking is the only requirement. In addition to remaining surrounded by nature, we will take some touches of the history that the province of Huesca leaves behind:

- The Legendary Villages : starting and ending in Rodellar, any season is good for this journey in which we will go upriver, jumping from one side to the other. It is important that we go with someone who knows him since the signposted path is not always the safest.

- La Cunarda : what is characteristic in his case is that the attraction of hiking is added that of mycology. As we walk we can learn to identify the mushrooms that grow here, even take those that are edible for a tasting back to the starting point.

- Routes of Rock Art : we have identified two itineraries on the sides of the river Vero in which the samples of prehistoric life still remain. It begins and ends in Alquezar and is done entirely on foot.

Description of Guara Climbing

Climbing requires an environment that poses a challenge equivalent to our knowledge and in Guara we can be satisfied with the location we occupy between the mountains of Alquézar and Rodellar, where all climbers find appropriate routes.

Thus, we can follow our vertical adventures in:

- Rodellar : its great advantage, in addition to the multitude of routes in the heights, is that you can reach any of them on foot. In addition to practicing climbing, we will be surrounded by the pleasant landscapes around the Mascún riverbed.

- Alquézar : the destination of moderately or very experienced participants. Almost all its routes are from grade 7, with steps whose length will allow us to continue for hours if we are able.

As for the best time to approach these points, it will be in most of the year. Although we recommend that you go in the mild seasons, summer, or even winter, they are not forbidden due to the points that the sun never shines or those sections that remain dry with low temperatures.

Description of Guara Mountain Biking

Make your way with the mountain bike through the Sierra de Guara, we will tell you how and where to travel to find the most suitable paths, if you do not want complications, or get into difficulties with rough trails in which you can make use of your extensive skills as a cyclist.

We recommend three routes:

- Around the Alcandre river : do the famous ravines of Formigal or Peonera sound familiar to you? because the flows of those and more go to the Alcandre. We will start and end rolling on asphalt but it will be a small step through civilization and then we will lock ourselves in the trees that line its tracks. There will be sections in which we will take the bike by the hand due to the steepness of the terrain.

- Between Colungo and Naval : from the Sierra de Guara Park this route will remind us of the pottery origins of Somontano. The difference between the height of its paths is very marked so, in addition to daring, you have to have enough physical capacity to tackle the climbs.

- From Abiego to Casbas : fields of sowing, riverside, the Roman bridge and even a monastery will be the witnesses of our pedaling. The time to decide on this route is summer because we will get to get wet with the waters of the river.

Learn about the origin of the popularity of Somontano wines with the recommendations that we will make to you from the Guara Association. In this area, wines whose designation of origin is relatively recent, since contrary to other D.O. nationals, dates back only to the year 84. However, that has not been an impediment for the quality of their varieties to have earned them a place in the wineries of wine lovers.

Some of the wineries that settle in this environment are:
