Silvia Serrano Maroto

Content Manager at Yumping.com since 2022
I took my first steps in the Yumping.com offices as an intern in the Content Department, in October 2022. After six months of learning and hard work, I started working as Content Manager. Currently, I am dedicated to managing all the content of our website, both creating new texts and improving the information that already existed.

I have always known that I wanted to dedicate myself to writing, but without being very clear about how to approach it. After studying journalism and creating several personal projects, it seems that in Yumping.com I have found that space to do what I like.

Training

I graduated in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication from the Rey Juan Carlos University from Madrid. In addition, I have the title of Leisure and Free Time Monitor by the Escuela Impeesa Educación y Ocio because I love participating in camps and organizing activities for the children to have fun.

In the world of sports, I am a black belt in Martial Arts, since I have been practicing a discipline called Kajukenbo since I was four years old.

Professional experience

My concerns about the fourth estate led me to co-found El Generacional, an online newspaper for young journalists, in which I am Head of the Culture section. With this project we want journalism students to start their professional career with opportunities such as press passes, film premieres or concerts.

I created the cultural digital magazine Discordia Magazine and I am also part of the Cortos Cortos audiovisual initiative, a space for creative freedom to experiment, support and (disclose) young artists who want to create, here you can consult the Yuotube channel.

Adventure sports experience

When I'm not writing or creating, I like to spend my time traveling in and out of Spain or escaping to the Sierra de Guadalajara to go hiking and camping with my friends. I am also a great fan of the Camino de Santiago, having done the English, the Portuguese and the Epilogue to Finisterre. Finally, I love going to the snow to ski, but I don't do it as much as I would like. It is for all this that writing about Active Tourism and adventure activities in Yumping.com comes to me like a glove.

Questions to Silvia Serrano Maroto about Yumping

What three adventure activities do you have to do at least once in your life?

As a lover of the motor world, I would love to be able to do a quad route or drive an SUV. Since I've been working at Yumping.com I haven't stopped talking to my partner about going canyoning together. And lastly, it may be very cliché, but I've always wanted to skydive.

What activity or sport would you like to be an instructor in?

Ski! Without a doubt, I love skiing and I would love to be able to do it more often. Being a ski instructor would mean going to the snow for the entire winter season.

What activities would you recommend doing in your city of birth?

I am from a town in Guadalajara, that part of Spain so forgotten on the maps. In my province we have the wonderful Sierra de Guadalajara, with endless routes to travel. It is also common to come to La Alcarria from Madrid to do paragliding in La Muela.
