Restless and explorers by nature, children love to jump, climb and get wet. The only thing that could prevent them from enjoying canyoning would be a fear of heights. In case they cannot overcome an obstacle, the instructor, who will accompany you at all times, will immediately help them to move forward.
The meeting point for this activity will be in Ponta Delgada , the most beautiful and representative district of the island. However, there we will head to Achada , a northern parish where the spectacular Ribera do Caldeirões Natural Park is located. Upon arrival at the park, the materials you will need for this canyoning route will be distributed to you and we will take a short walk for a quarter of an hour before starting.
This is a water ravine perfect for the youngest, not because of the difficulty, but because the landscape of the area is full of forests, waterfalls through which they can slide like a giant slide. and other cornices from which you can jump directly into the water.
Practicing canyoning in a place as special as the Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park is something that is only available to a few. Are you ready?

Canyoning is a water and mountain sport perfect to practice as a family; Swimming in the river, jumping into the water or falling down natural slides are just some of the things you can do in the Salto do Cabrito . In the geographical center of the island of São Miguel you can spend a fun family day doing canyoning for 6 hours .The meeting point for the activity will be in the capital of the Azores , Ponta Delgada . Located less than 10 minutes by car from Juan Pablo II airport , it is a beautiful town, with modern and groundbreaking buildings that contrast with the typical architecture of the 18th century that you can see reflected in them Portas da Cidade .
Upon arriving at Ribeira Grande the canyoning monitor will give a brief talk commenting on the activity and explaining some of the techniques that you should use during the tour. He will then lend you the climbing equipment and the wetsuits.
In the Salto do Cabrito you will find 3 different waterfalls that you must overcome throughout the day. We will accompany the little ones through alternative paths in order to advance, leaving behind some obstacles that require a higher canyoning level.
In addition to some temples such as the Igreja de São Roque , the little ones will undoubtedly love visiting Furnas , a town marked by volcanic formations, where they can enjoy the calderas of hot water, from fumaroles and geysers. A typical place in the area is Lagoa do Fogo , a large lake that rests on the ancient crater of the volcano.
