Description of Excursion to the Sanctuary and Lakes of Covadonga, 1 day
If you are in Asturias you cannot miss the most emblematic places in the region.
The excursion will begin in Gijón, a city located in the north of Spain. This will be our meeting point to board a bus that will take us to the Covadonga Lakes.
Our first stop will be at Lake Ercina and Lake Enol, where you will enjoy the views without limitations for an hour. You will be able to explore nature and connect with it freely. In addition, our expert guide will explain all the curiosities of the area to you.
Once we have finished exploring the lakes, we will go to the Covadonga Sanctuary so you can observe all its beauty. Did you know that under the basilica there is a waterfall? This makes the landscape even more incredible! After the guide explains the importance and history of King Pelayo, you can go see the area freely.
We will continue towards the city known as Cangas de Onís, popular for the Battle of Covadonga won by King Pelayo. Here we will pause to eat and see the Roman Bridge of Cangas de Onís or Puente Vieyu.
To return we will border the coast by bus, this way you will see the sea and some of its beaches, although before arriving we will make a stop in one of the most spectacular towns in Spain, Lastres. Here we will go up to the San Roque viewpoint where you can take the typical photo at the top of the mountain.
We will wait for you!
