Description of Hiking Boquerón del Estena Route
We invite you to go hiking through the Cabañeros National Park, located in the northwest of the province of Ciudad Real and the southwest of the city of Toledo. The Boquerón del Estena route will take you back in time, specifically to the Paleolithic stage, thanks to its scarce vegetation and numerous rock erosions. You will discover thousands of curiosities about sedimentation and you will even be able to observe footprints of animals from that time.
The route that we propose is linear and includes a total of 6.5 kilometers. They have a low difficulty since its gradient is only 20 meters and all the areas of the path are flat.
The route will begin in the car parks of our activity base, located in Las Navas de Estena. A municipality of only 279 inhabitants, which belongs to the province of Ciudad Real. It will take around 15 minutes to reach the first path that leads to theChorrillo stream.Next we will start along a path surrounded by vegetation characteristic of the area, notable for its warm and dry climate. Finally we will cross the Estena River over a wooden bridge, leaving the waters of the river on our left side.
Throughout the tour you will be able to see two marine sediments, characteristic for always being at the bottom of the sea, we are talking about quartzite and slate. We will also pass through a fault zone where we will observe three towers perfectly aligned with each other.
Likewise, one of the best representations of geological discordance in all of Europe will be observed. The term unconformity refers to the surface that brings different rocks into contact with different inclinations.
