Hiking Route Boquerón del Estena

We invite you to do the sport of hiking through the Cabañeros National Park, located in the northwest of the province of Ciudad Real and southwest of the city of Toledo. The anchovy route of the Estena will make you go back in time, more specifically to the stage of the Paleolítico, thanks to its sparse vegetation and its numerous rocky erosions. You'll discover thousands of curiosities about the sedimentation and you'll even be able to observe traces of the animals of that time.

The tour that we propose is in a linear way and comprises a total of 6.5 kilometers. They have a low difficulty since their slope is only 20 meters and all the areas of the road are flat.

The tour will begin in the parking lots of our activity base, located in the Navas de Estena. A municipality of only 279 inhabitants, which belongs to the province of Ciudad Real. It'll take about 15 minutes until you reach the first path that will take you to the Chorrillo stream. Then we'll leave for a path surrounded by a vegetation characteristic of the area, distinguished by its warm and dry climate. Finally, we'll cross the river Estena through a wooden bridge, leaving the waters of the river to our left side.

Throughout the tour you'll see two marine sediments, characteristic of being always at the bottom of the sea, they are the quartzite and slate. We'll also pass through a fault zone in which we'll observe three perfectly aligned towers.

Also, one of the best representations of geological discordance of all Europe will be observed. The term discordance refers to the surface that puts different rocks in contact with different inclinations.
