Orientation Workshop in Valencia

You are invited to attend our workshop about orienteering. On it, you will learn everything you need for not getting lost in the outdoors, learn how to read a map, interprering a compass, etc.

This workshop is divided into 3 days: in 16th, 23rd and 30th of January, from 20:00 to 23:00 hours each day, making up a 9-hour workshop. Each lesson will be focused in a different subject, so the students can have an overall perspective of orienteering.

The first journey can be seen as an introduction. On it, we will talk about the basic tools, maps, compasses and the most useful technological devices such as GPS and SmartPhones, apart from using our common sense.

The second journey will be focused on maps: basic notions on mapping, types of maps, how interpreting a map key, what are the countour lines and the scale, how a map must be read, what are the most common mistakes reading one, etc.

The third and last journey will be devoted to GPS and SmartPhones. Technology nowadays is very useful for orienteering. Thus, on this workshop we will talk about Datum, WayPoints, what is tracks and backtracks loading, etc.
