Speleology to the Coventosa cave in Arredondo 8 h

Get ready because we have a unique caving route prepared for you, as we will venture to conquer what many consider to be the star cave of the Cantabrian region . We are talking about discovering the Coventosa cave with a journey of 8 hours approximately and we will start it from the town of Arredondo . It will be a journey of just 3 kilometers, but it will be extensive through its long and narrow corridors.

For this caving route to Coventosa you will only need wellies, sportswear, a towel and a change of clothes. Disconnect and forget about anything else because with us it will be unnecessary, since all the necessary materials and an expert guide will run on our own account who knows every curve and nook of this immense cave in detail.

Our caving route in Coventosa begins when we pass through a fairly sharp bend. No more passing it, we continue descending on a path full of loose stones, so we will have to be careful. We continue along a path to our left that will lead us to a gigantic well 15 meters deep through which we will rappel down. It will be most exciting to cross this immense underground chasm until you reach the second floor of Coventosa .

Already perched on the floor of the cave, we go east and we find a void 65 meters deep. We will dodge it by climbing down from an overhanging casting and then we enter the Hall of Columns . We will be so stunned enjoying the underground environment that it will be impossible to move, so we will take the opportunity to rest and admire what surrounds us.

From here we will have to climb a little to overcome a small wall which gives us access to the Hall of Ghosts , one of the most emblematic galleries of Coventosa for its unique rock formations. We continue through this descending area going down a ramp secured with rope and eventually we come across the Pencils room , another room with spectacular formations.

We will go around the Lapiceros until we reach the final room , a beautiful corner where we can enjoy an enveloping silence and overwhelming darkness. We will then be contemplating the room that precedes the last one, because to finish we arrive at the Mirror room , where there are some small pools in which the water reflects everything in its path perfectly.
