Description of Guided excursion to the Cathedral of Oviedo
The Cathedral of Oviedo is one of the most important monuments in Asturias, and if you want to know it, we suggest a visit with a qualified guide who will tell you all the secrets hidden among its walls.
This mainly Gothic style construction began to be built at the end of the 13th century and lasted until the 17th century, which is why it has a mixture of pre-Romanesque, Romanesque, Renaissance and Baroque styles. It is known as the Holy Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica Church of San Salvador de Oviedo and contains a large number of relics and treasures of great value.
One of its most characteristic rooms is the Holy Chamber, as it has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. It was built in the 9th century and there are the Victoria crosses, a symbol of Asturias, and the Angels cross, a symbol of the city of Oviedo; both very precious elements of the cathedral.
We will also see the Gothic Cloister, a small patio with a garden and a series of architectural elements of different styles, also due to the changes made over time. The stalls, the royal tombs, the Holy Shroud of Jesus... You can visit the entire interior of the cathedral, but to know more about it you will have to come!
The tour will be 2 and a half hours, in a group of at least 4 people. Tickets and VIP access to the Cathedral are included. Take advantage of this opportunity to get to know this important Cathedral!
