Description of The lost village, hiking in Piloña
Hiking route for all audiences in a corner that escapes the usual tourist circuits. Piloña, gateway to the Picos de Europa Region, has a pleasant relief dotted with hills, between which small streams run, tributaries of the river that gives its name to this piece of the world, “the Piloña”.
On this excursion we will visit the small Chorrón waterfall and visit the abandoned village of La Cueva, condemned to oblivion with the rural exodus of past decades.
As a finishing touch to this complete activity, we will ascend to Cerro el Tombu, which with its modest 600 meters of altitude presides over the upper channel of the Piloña, giving views of the green valley that opens under our feet, to the Sierra del Sueve and the Picos de Europa, there in the distance.
After passing through the town of Torín, we will close the circle again at the starting point of this route: Villamayor, the town of two lies, since it is neither Villa nor is Major…
