Hiking and biodance Gerês December bridge

Do you have the December long weekend free and are you looking for a good plan for a getaway? Join us on an immersive experience through the natural spaces of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, for 4 days!

It is an environment belonging to Portuguese territory, on its border with Galicia. In this place we will be able to take four different routes and get to know its mountains, the courses of its rivers, the waterfalls and the lush forests. Quite an experience!

The excursions are made through paths that do not have signage, that is why we have a professional guide so that he can guide the group at all times through these places. We are going to move through very remote areas, which only some expert shepherds and hikers know about.

The routes are not technically complicated, but some are extensive or have a certain slope, and since we are going to do 4 consecutive routes on these days, it is advisable that you are used to walking in the mountains. These are the scheduled tours:

-First route, Seven Bridges Route, Thursday, December 6: We will leave from the border territory of Portela del Hombre, to head towards the Sierra Amarilla, heading south. We will see the impressive Mata da Albergaria forest and continue our itinerary through the Homem river valley. We will find the Ribeiro das Gramelas bridge, very close to the Vilarinho das Furnas dam. We reach Mata da Albergaria and head back to the beginning, passing by beautiful waterfalls. It is 9 km, which can be covered in 5 hours. The difficulty is moderate.

-Second tour, Pozo Azul route, Friday, December 7: we will leave Tribela and get to know the transparent waters that fill this pool. While we walk we will see some high peaks, such as the Black Rock or the Pias Rock. In the first section of the excursion we will see the Arado waterfall, one of the best known because of how spectacular it is. It is at a height of 750 meters. Other places that we will see on this journey are Curral da Malhadoura, Curral de los Puertos or the Puente de las Sierras. There will be 11 kilometers in total, to be completed in 7 hours.

-Third route, Leonte, Pe do Cabril and Varciela route, Saturday, December 8: this route is made towards the north, to reach Pie de Cabril, at an altitude of 1235 meters. The path will allow us to visit Prado del Tirolión and Cabello, before reaching Prado Amarillo. We will discover the typical flora of the area, such as carqueixa or xesta. We will continue through Campo de Gerês until we reach the forested area of Mata da Albergaria, from where we will see Vilarinho das Furnas. We will make the descent through Leonte. We will complete 10 km in 6 hours, on a moderate level route.

-Fourth tour,Preguiza route, Sunday, December 9: our last route is going to be a simpler circular route than the rest of the ones we have done these days. We will walk through endless forests of chestnut trees, strawberry trees, carballos and piñeiros. We will be able to see a spectacular lake when we are 650 meters high, in Casa de la Preguiza. We will also observe Caldas del Geres. We will arrive at Cantina, a viewpoint 800 meters away to see the entire area. We will enjoy watching the water fall in the Leonte waterfall, and we will cross the Gerês River. It will be 4 kilometers, which we will do in 2 hours.

But not everything is going to be walking. The other pillar of this getaway is biodanza. It is a technique that uses body movement and sound to try to connect better with yourself and the environment that surrounds you. Together with a professional in this discipline, two learning sessions await you.

And, how about finishing this magnificent experience by entering the Lobios spa, bathing in the hot springs that emanate from the Caldo River. This activity will take place on Sunday afternoon, before the end of the getaway.
