Hiking in Meis, half a day

We will carry out the route in Meis, Po. Taking advantage of the large number of rivers and streams that exist in the O Salnés region, we find one of the most characteristic elements of water architecture: El Molino.

The route runs through the municipalities of Meis (San Martiño and A Armenteira) and Ribadumia (Barrantes). This is an old path that was traditionally taken on Easter Mondays towards the A Armenteira monastery. The first part is the route of the Barrantes mills, a kilometer and a half long, with six restored mills.

We follow the course of the Armenteira River to reach the town hall of Meis, where we find the Serén mills, a surprising space, perfectly rehabilitated and with a recreational area on the slopes of Mount Cabeza de Boi. The mills take us to the “Aldea Labrega”, a granite representation of Galician rural life at the beginning of the 20th century with its traditional elements: the church, the granary, the oven, the transept and the domestic animals; It was carried out entirely by the School of Stonemasons of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra. The second part of the route begins here, which, with a medium-high difficulty, is also the most surprising area for its landscape, nature in its purest form.

We now reach the end of the route, the A Armenteira monastery, an outstanding work of Galician Cistercian architecture from the 12th century.

A specialized guide knowledgeable about the area will accompany you throughout the route and will explain all the peculiarities of the area as well as its fauna and flora and its history.
