The Catalan Pyrenees are one of the most idyllic places to enjoy the snow and have truly extreme sensations. It is a generally popular destination for skiing, but we are strongadvocates that there are more ways to experience the mountain than skiing, such as with the 3-hour snowshoe route for 4 people that we have prepared for you to meet the beautiful summits of Aiguas Tortes National Park and San Mauricio lake.Our snowshoe route will begin at the Les Daines hostel, at the Espot ski resort, which is located in the town de Espot, in Pallars de Sobirá, in the provice of Lleida. Here we will equip ourselves with poles and snowshoes and our guide, who will accompany us at all times, will give us a brief training and instructions about the activity and the route that we will take. For this exciting day you just have to come warm with jackets, gloves, hat, and hiking boots. You should also bring sunglasses and sun protection.
Once ready, we will go up the La Roca chairlift, reaching an elevation 2000, where now we can say that our adventure officially begins. Immersed in these colossal landscapes, the mountain breeze from the Pyrenees will travel through our entire body, and we will be surrounded by absolute silence as we move through the snow contemplating views that can only be seen if we enter the inside its mountains with snowshoes.
Here, we can make several itineraries, such as the Les Picardes route, in which we can make an excursion where we will go around the area known as Clots de la Bassa, from where We can admire the majestic Les Picardes peak, surrounded by unique and varied vegetation. We can also do the Cruz de l'Eixol route, where we will reach a beautiful viewpoint from which we can have the best views of the Pyrenees and its adjacent valley.

From here, it is impossible to enjoy the landscape of the Catalan Pyrenees more than with a snowshoe excursion, with which we enjoy at our own pace surrounded by an incomparable silence and with truly privileged views that every snow lover yearns to experience.
Our snowshoe excursion will start at the Les Daines Lodge, from the Espot ski resort, where we will conduct a briefing on the skiing material and its use, as well as on the journey we will take. We will give you snowshoes and poles, you just have to come wrapped up in warm clothes from head to toe. Remember to bring sunscreen and sunglasses, because the snow is very reflecting on the snow, and we don't want anything to put us off from our snowshoe route through Aigües Tortes and Estany de San Mauricio National Park.
After equipping ourselves and listening to the initial training, we will get on the La Roca chair lift and reach a 2000 metres elevation, where we will have a lunch menu right before we start in order to get our batteries fully charged and, after that, then our journey with snowshoes begins.
We will be able to delight our senses by the vegetation that we will find, the magnificent views and the so relaxing silence that awaits us. In these parts, we could make 2 itineraries, such as the Les Picardes route, where we will skirt the Clot de la Bassa, which will lead us to a remote perfect place to contemplate the Picardes peak. Or else, we can go on a route to the Cruz de l'Eixol, where we will suddenly find ourselves at a viewpoint carefully observing the best views of the Pyrenees and the adjacent valley.
