Snowshoeing route Círculo de Peñalara

Snow can be enjoyed in different ways, not only by doing skiing or snowboarding. Thus, the mountain range of Madrid offers us an immensity of activities, among which the snowshoeing routes stands out in winter. This time we take you to tour the Peñalara cirque glacier in a journey between 3 and 4 hours long equipped with snowshoes and poles. Are you ready?

After receiving a small instruction, on the use and handling of the rackets, you will start the tour from the Puerto de Cotos. Following a mountain guide you will contemplate a landscape in which the glacial elements will stand out. Remember that this geographical accident dates from 1.8 million years ago. It is also one of the most inhospitable routes you can do without leaving the autonomous region of the Community of Madrid.

This tour, which will take place on the slopes of Peñalara, will leave you amazed. You will discover its geological history and observe the morphological traces that have been left over time. But not only that, the route will continue advancing until reaching the refuge of Zabala and the frozen Laguna Grande lagoon. During the ascent, the majestic peaks of Bola del Mundo and Cabeza de Hierro will appear.
