Snowshoe route in the Sierra de Entzia

The trendy activity this winter, without a doubt, is snowshoeing! We propose a special excursion, in the heart of the Sierra de Entzia, in the Opakua area (west of Álava). You've never seen the majestic snow-capped mountains of northern Spain like this. Our snowshoe routes cross the frozen natural park of the snowy mountain plateau of Urbassa (belonging to Navarra). Thanks to the snowshoes you will advance over the snow in a simple and fun way, exploring the forests where we will find secret frozen waterfalls that seem straight out of the big screen.

This is a route designed for all audiences, in which we will enjoy the most spectacular landscapes, among other things, a panoramic view of a frozen lake. In approximately 5 hours of travel we will discover frozen turquoise rivers or its famous white beech and oak forests that, in winter, make you fall in love at first sight. The snowshoe routes offer different levels, we adapt to your physical level, just come and enjoy and listen to the anecdotes that our mountain guides will tell during the snowshoe route.

This route measures about 8 km, and has about 200 meters of elevation gain. However, depending on the characteristics of the group, we have the possibility of shortening or extending it, so the minimum recommended age is 10 years.

This type of activity depends on the weather but we usually start the snowshoe routes in December and finish in March, it is the season in which the mountains receive the most snow and incomparable landscapes are achieved. The meeting point will be the Upaka Port.
