With jurisdiction over Catholic faithful of the Latin rite who reside in Porto and its municipalities, we are an ecclesiastical district of the Catholic Church in Portugal belonging to the Archdiocese of Braga. /strong>
The headquarters where the Diocese of Porto is located offers us an architectural wealth of religious temples, which you can visit.
In the historic center of Porto, declared World Heritage by UNESCO, two important religious buildings are located: The Episcopal Palace and the Porto Cathedral.
The Episcopal Palace is the first palace in Porto and an example of late-baroque architecture in all of Portugal. It is the place of residence of the bishop of Porto and the seat of the curia of the diocese. And for the curious, the most monumental part of the palace is open to be seen.
Next to this construction is the Porto Cathedral. A building with various architectural styles as a result of its reconstruction. The Romanesque, baroque and Gothic style coexist, making it a National Monument that you can discover inside and out.
