Caudiel is a small town in the Alto Palancia region in Castellón, one of those little towns that no longer exist, extremely quiet and cold in winter, not very hot in summer, where there are many activities to do, almost all of them related to nature.

There is the possibility of exploring the Ojos Negros Greenway, both on foot and by bicycle. It is accessed from the same cabins just 500 meters away. This route has a distance of more than 100 km, so it is common on weekends to see numerous groups of cyclists pass by to travel different sections.

In the surroundings of Caudiel you can take a wide variety of routes. At Cabañas Caudiel Senderismo we have prepared for you a selection of the best routes offered by the area in which this Castellón town is located:

• Route 1: You can leave the cabins, and go to the lower part of the town where you will find a bridge that divides the town into two halves. As soon as you cross that bridge on your left you will be able to see the entrance to the tunnel of the greenway, you can head towards it, cross it, it has a distance of about 300 meters, on the other side you will find a real orchard, the trees form a small natural cave, walk for 800 m. approximately and you will find a path on the left which, if you take it, will direct you back towards the town, specifically to the RENFE station, and from there you have the option of going up directly to the center, or continuing along the path opposite. It runs parallel to the road until in about 800m more you will pass the old Socos Hermitage, and the typical haystacks of what was once a rural village.

• Route 2: Leave the cabins, passing in front of the church in the direction of the lower part of the town “the neighborhood”, where you will find a bridge that divides the town into two halves, when crossing it take the street Right in the direction of the football field, once you have passed the field you will see a playground, you can take the street on the left, which is a very steep ramp and there, passing by old bull corrals, continue straight until you come face to face with a chalet where you have two options, one to return towards the neighborhood, and the other to go out to the road where you take a walk that runs parallel to the road all the time until you reach the place of the La Grieta fountain. Once La Grieta is abandoned, on the other side of the road is the municipal swimming pool and the town's sports complex.

• Route 3: There are also longer distance routes, such as to see the Torre del Molino or also called Torre de Aníbal. It would be a bit complex to explain how to get there with just a text, so if you want to continue walking, we can give you directions on site. Estimated time to complete this route is one hour or an hour and a half.

• Route 4: Climb to the Porqueira fountain, which in turn is one of the names we have given to one of the cabins. Information in situ. The estimated time to complete this route is 3 hours.

In addition to the cabins we have a hostel next to the Ojos Negros Greenway. We have a promotion for winter where you can spend an entire weekend with mountain biking activities and full board. An ideal option to combine our favorite sport with a visit to the extremely beautiful landscapes that characterize this area of Castellón.

Some of the routes that you can do with your bicycle are:

• Route 1: You can take the greenway heading south, 5 km away you will arrive at the city of Jérica where you can visit the famous tower of the Mudejar-style church, or the Palancia River as it passes through this town. Continuing south for 10 km you will reach Navajas, another of the popular towns in Alto Palancia, and 3 km further is Altura with its well-known Cartuja de Valdecristo. From Altura or from Navajas, you can access Segorbe, capital of the region where the highlights are its Roman ruins and the Cathedral of the bishopric. Round trip is about 40 km and the estimated pedaling time is 3 hours.

• Route 2: Take the greenway north from Caudiel, 1 km away you will reach the old mining station, 2 km further on are the Fuen Santa bridges. If the forces accompany you 5 km higher you reach the Ragudo halt, and from there the ascent to Barracas begins, which is 15 km higher. Remind you that the road heading north is a constant climb with an average slope of 2%. In the same way towards the south it is all downhill.
