Request Information FREEThe transformation experienced in the Galician vineyard in recent years has been total. The native grapes that were on the verge of succumbing to the reproductive capacity of other foreign grapes, whose vines produced large quantities of fruit, which was what was of interest at the time, have been recovered.
Quantity was worth more than quality. One of these grapes is Godello, also known as Agudello, Berdello and Godelho. Given this diversity of such local names, no one can doubt her status as a profound Galician.
The climate of Valdeorras is the driest in all of Galicia, with many hours of sunshine and special luminosity, but also with abundant rainfall, which turns these valleys into authentic orchards.
Valdeorras, like almost all of Galicia, was invaded by the palomino grape and its white wines did not achieve even a little dignity. Fortunately, in 1974 a vineyard restructuring program arose in Valdeorras and in it, the return to the Godello vine was the primary objective.
One of the pioneers in the area was Antonio Alvarez, who built a modern winery on a hillside, surrounded by a few hectares of vineyards that he planted, Godello of course, and called it Medorras. The chosen location was splendid aesthetically and oenologically speaking as they are good slopes.
Its wines, called Godellón, have had a great reception from the public since its birth. Years later, in 1990, the winery was acquired by new owners who continued the good work of the founder. The new name was Adega Día-Noite, they called the white day, and its label represents the sun; They called the red wine Noite and it is the moon that takes its place.
