Bodega Picos de Cabariezo

In the heart of the Liébana Valley, is the Picos de Cabariezo Winery, a company created in 2000 with the intention of recovering wine tourism in this area of Cabezón de Liébana. Specifically in the town of Cabariezo they have their facilities, where you can live an experience that will make you immerse yourself in the best flavors of Cantabria and taste the most typical products of the area. It is a pioneering winery and distillery in Cantabria, winner in 2017 of the National Fecoes award for best winery-distillery. Here you can find on the slopes of the Morillas mountain an immense vineyard made up of the vines of Mencía, Godello and Syrah; being the first the predominant autochthonous grape of this area and exclusive throughout the world.

Their main production is red wine, although they also produce white wine. These are signature wines, but they do not only stand out for this, but also have a total of 6 typical copper stills, where thanks to their independent temperature control and its slow and exhaustive care, achieve a total of 1 liter per hour. The procedure consists of distilling the skins that come from the vinification. When the wine has fermented, it is devatted and the alcohols evaporate in the boiler, thus making them rise through the capotillo and thus condense in the glass and flow slowly.

A total of 1 hour of visit where you can tour its facilities, they will teach you how they make their products in an artisanal way: wine, pomace, gin, whiskey and brandy while you walk through its different rooms.
