Bodegas Calar is located on the Montanchuelos estate, which belongs to the municipality of Granátula de Calatrava. Montachuelos is located in Campo de Calatrava, the transition zone between Sierra Morena and La Mancha.

With an average altitude of 650 meters above sea level, the climate of this region is clearly continental, with cold winters and hot summers, a very pronounced thermal oscillation between day and night and an average rainfall regime of 400 mm. annually.

The farm extends in the valley of the Jabalón River, with small elevations to the south that anticipate the first foothills of the Sierra Morena. These hills date back to the Primary Age, formed by quartzite and slate, while the river valley is the result of the accumulation of gravel and siliceous sand with an important limestone layer.
