Description of Bodegas Ochoa

At Bodegas Ochoa we are convinced that the quality of a great wine is born in the vineyard. Faithful to this work philosophy, we make our wines only with grapes from our own vines, planted, pruned and harvested by us. We firmly believe that this is the best way to ensure the quality of our wines.

We have 143 hectares of our own vineyard. Our oldest vines are located in Finca Montijo next to our current Olite winery, although most of our vines grow in Finca El Bosque in the natural enclave of Traibuenas. Our vineyards come from the old vines of our ancestors, so we have selected the best strains to multiply their plant material. The planting frame is 3x1 meters, and they are planted facing south so that the leaf surface exposed to the sun is adequate.

Years of work, research and experimentation have shown us that to make a great wine it is very important to carry out careful viticulture and obtain a low yield in the vineyard. Health and ecology are also fundamental: we are carrying out comprehensive viticulture, treating the land as our grandparents did, but using the most advanced technology.

The wine comes from the land, so at Bodegas Ochoa we respect the vineyard and the environment as much as possible through comprehensive agriculture. It is necessary not to break the natural balance, but always taking advantage of new technologies and decisively betting on new research, development and innovation projects that allow us to improve the quality of our products.
