El Lagar de Isilla is a winery made up of a series of underground galleries, excavated 12 meters deep, in the old town of Aranda de Duero. They were excavated back in the 13th-14th century. Until 1900 there is evidence of the production of artisanal wine in these wineries.
In 1903 the more industrial journey began and in 1929 an important technological reform was carried out, becoming one of the first wineries in bottling in glass containers, as well as mechanical destemming and pressing systems.
Finally, in 1995 the ambitious project of reforming the winery was contemplated and doing what had been done for so many centuries, an artisanal wine, but with current technology, in order to produce quality wines and limited production protected under the seal of the DO. Ribera del Duero. This is how Bodegas El Lagar de Isilla was born.
It can be visited every day at any time from 11:00 to 23:30 (except Sunday afternoons). Access to it is through the Mesón Restaurante. For groups it is advisable to arrange a day and time, since due to the characteristics of the winery the groups must be small.
We also have a Winery in the municipality of La Vid, where we carry out 4 guided tours a day with different wine tastings, tasting courses, pairings...
Guided tastings can be arranged with a visit to the winery, food in the Restaurant and wine sales as a complete package. For more information, contact El Lagar de Isilla and request detailed information about the different possibilities and enjoy a different concept of wine tourism in this area of the Burgos geography.
