Lagar de Costa is a family winery, where the effort and dedication of three generations linked to the care of Albariñas strains and winemaking come together. Its construction dates back more than a century and has undergone several reforms, always trying to maintain its original stone and wood structure.
Our family has direct control of all the processes of both the vineyard when selecting the grape , and in the cellar, by incorporating the most modern technology for winemaking , thus combining the traditional and the modern, in order to obtain a wine with its own characteristics.
90% of the grape production comes from own vineyards , some of them with more than 50 years, which are located in the parish of Castrelo, nestled in the Intermareal Complex Umia-O Grove (Red Natura 2000), in front of the Island of A Toxa.
The vines are in lowlands very close to the sea and whose altitude ranges between 0 and 30 meters. The terroir is of sandy-loam texture, being therefore a loose soil with good water penetration capacity, easy drainage. The vineyard is embedded in a system perfectly adapted to our area due to high humidity, with mild temperatures and high rainfall and well distributed throughout the year. The planting frame is 4x4 (about 1,200 strains per Ha.)
