Zoo de Lagos

Welcome to Lagos Zoo, a zoo located in Lagos, a municipality in the province of Faro, Portugal.

This project was born thanks to requests from schools and visitors, with the idea of education, conservation and protection of nature. In 1997 was when the first idea to set up Lagos Zoo arose, and after three years it opened its doors to the public.

The park has been carefully designed with great simplicity. Its spaces are built in detail with the aim of animal well-being respecting their habitat. Trees were planted, rocks, stones, logs were moved...

As lovers of animals and the environment, we are part of some NGOs, we collaborate in different captive breeding programs for endangered species through the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums , we support and take part in exhibitions, environmental campaigns among many others.

Our team of experts is made up of people whohave always been passionate about animals and have a great connection with them, especially with horses and birds.

You can enjoy a wide variety of species, including more than 100 types of birds from owls to swans, mammals such as kangaroos and chimpanzees, reptiles , fish and amphibians among other animals.

All we want is for you to enjoy all our animals and learn about this wonderful world!
