In the summer of 1977, Jorge Ibargoyen, after learning hang gliding in Argèles Gazost (French Pyrenees), decided to continue practicing this sport at the age of 16. Fortunately, thanks to the help of his family, he expands his practical and theoretical knowledge.
In 1980, Joge Ibargoyen and Thomas Huster (Batzha) created the Delta Bidasoa School. They apply a wing simulator on a mobile vehicle in teaching, achieving very satisfactory results. The school grows nationally and internationally, receiving students from Euskadi, the State and Europe.
During the winter seasons Batzha dedicated himself to skiing and Jorge took the opportunity to organize some expeditions. In 1984 he flew from Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and in later years in different areas of Ecuador, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Australia, the United States and Europe.
In 1986 Jorge and Batzha decided to expand the activities and added a new type of flight. This is how the Bidasoa Delta Paragliding School was born. A new teaching system is used for paragliding, which is the fixed winch. Practical classes for both wing and paragliding are taught in the Errotazahar field (Ibarla neighborhood) and also on the Hondarribia beach. The school acquires significant growth and to absorb it it is necessary to hire personnel.

Calle Bidasoa Hondarribia
Since the beginning of Bidasoa Ala Delta Flight Center, in 1980, classes were taught in a small field in Hondarribia until teaching was centralized in the Errotazahar field in the Ibarla neighborhood in Irún.
We have always used the latest generation wings and revolutionary teaching methods have been applied at all times that have facilitated and ensured good learning development:
From the wings of the 80s to the current ones there is a notable difference in design and performance. Planing has been considerably improved, increasing speed and perfecting construction materials. The pilot's flight posture is in a prone position (lying down), the harnesses and helmets are aerodynamic and very comfortable.
The safety that a wing offers when flying is 100% and the pilot training to achieve good piloting must be very complete, that is why at Bidasoa Ala Delta Flight Center we worry about training pilots of quality.

Bidasoa Paragliding Flight Center brings you this exciting sport with which you will experience unmatched emotions.
In 1986 the first paragliding courses began in the Errotazahar field in the Ibarla neighborhood of Irún. Paragliding used the fixed winch in training classes, but over time the teaching system varied until it was centralized in the field itself.
The evolution of paragliding and its practice has been very rapid. This has created saturation problems in many schools and the result has been poor training.
Two-seater paragliders exist and are used in training, or simply for passengers who want to try paragliding. Having a good level of piloting and control of the glider when flying is essential for a good pilot. Reaching a good technical level of flight requires hours and experience.
Paragliding flight is not as simple as it seems, the pilot's position is seated and piloting is done by modifying the profile of the glider. The sail or paraglider is not a rigid profile but on the contrary deforms and in strong or turbulent flight conditions it is much more limited than a hang glider.
Contact Bidasoa Paragliding Flight Center and come and enjoy an exciting day that you will hardly forget.
