Description of Club Escuela de Piragüismo Cuenca

Cuenca Canoeing School Club with Character is a Sports Club that offers canoeing classes and courses for all ages and styles, and many other activities. We have a competition team that participates in the river, sprint and marathon leagues. We also have a recrative section with members who like this sport but prefer not to compete.

Among our courses we highlight:

  • Introductory course : ideal for learning how to function in this discipline.
  • Improvement or advanced course : where you can apply and learn what you already know.
  • We are in charge of teaching the courses organized by the Municipal Sports Institute (Cuenca City Council).

We do many other activities:

  • Walks through the Hoz del Júcar. These are walks without a monitor through the wonderful river sickle Júcar, using self-emptying canoes, very stable and safe. No prior reservation is necessary, but it should be done to know the club's hours or if there is an activity planned that blocks all the material.
  • Walks through the Hoz del Júcar with an instructor . Intended for large groups who want or need to be accompanied by one or more instructors. Prior reservation is required.
  • Groups and collaborations with educational centers . Similar to the walks with a monitor, but taking into account the age of the participants, .... It is also necessary to request it in advance.
  • San Juan Night in a canoe and Full Moon Nights . They are specific activities that take place during the summer months. They allow you to discover a different river. When they are made, the reservation is enabled on the club's website.
  • Spring Descent and Autumn Descent . They are two days of coexistence that include a descent and a subsequent meal. If the river flow does not allow a descent, then a crossing will be made.
  • San Silvestre in Piragua . Finish the year doing a different and fun activity.
  • Descents from El Chantre (short route) or from La Torre (long route). They are aimed at groups of a minimum of 10 people. It is essential to book in advance. They are subject to the availability of flow in the river and available monitors.
  • Our team participates in the different national river leagues and those mentioned above. And our club organizes three sports events: the traditional Bridge to Bridge , for young people a Young Promises Championship , and for all the new Descent of Júcar , with a slopecompetitive and another popular one open to the public.

If you want to enjoy a refreshing activity and put aside stress and routine, come and try! We have packs made to measure for you.

You can come alone or in the company ofyours.

How to get there?
We are 3 kilometers from Cuenca. Leaving the San Antón bridge, take the CM-2105 road towards Villalba de la Sierra. Without taking any detour you will find our Club at kilometer 3. There is an esplanade to park and a pedestrian bridge to cross the river. A few meters further there is another larger esplanade to leave buses or motorhomes. From the old town of Cuenca you can also get there by going out through the Arco de Bezudo (in the castle) and taking the road called "Camino de San Isidro" until you go down to the river level. There, turn left onto a dirt road and our club is 500 meters downstream.
