Description of Initiation caving in Sima Simarro and photos
Do you want to discover a fascinating world hidden in underground caves? Come to our caving route in Alicante. This is the Sima Simarro, in the Carrascal de la Fuente Roja Natural Park, within the surroundings of Alcoy and Ibi.
This caving session is medium level, since it has some somewhat technical steps. Also, remember to bring boots or sports shoes (flip flops and river shoes are not valid).
The cave is below the Menejador mountain, and it is due to the rains that fall on its slopes that the water has been filtering over hundreds of years to shape the rocks that we find in its interior.
On the approach, which takes approximately 60 minutes, we pass through two artificial snowfields, the Sirvent well and the Simarro well.
To navigate inside the cave we will use different caving techniques: from crawling to climbing down, through some rope techniques to descend the chasms.
On our route inside the mountains we will have the opportunity to see first-hand the elements that make up the caves and that nature has been creating for centuries, such as the spectacular columns, stalagmites and stalactites or banners. Without forgetting, of course, the famous eccentric stalactites.
Come and discover the depths of Alicante by exploring the Simarro chasm!
