Description of Visit Cádiz: The Phoenician origin
Learn about the origin of Cádiz, or Gadir, its original Phoenician name. This city is considered the first Phoenician nucleus of our Peninsula, making it the oldest city, up to 3,000.
It emerged as a commercial enclave of utmost importance, even before Roman Hispania and the famous Gades.
This route includes the purest areas of Phoenician Cádiz, such as the Archaeological Site of the Phoenicians. Here, you will immerse yourself in its ruins, the streets and roads, in the Phoenician homes and in their customs.
Enter the oldest city in Western Europe!
To start the route, we have the meeting point, the Plaza de San Juan de Dios.
