Guided tour Contrasts of León

We begin the visit to the city in the center, Plaza de Santo Domingo. We can see La Casa Botines, work of the architect Antonio Gaudí; and, right next door, the Guzmanes Palace, an Italian Renaissance building, today the headquarters of the Provincial Council.

Right here begins the Historic Center, which stands on the site of the Roman military camp of the Legio VII. On the other side of the square, the modernist city extends, around the backbone of Avenida de Ordoño II.

Very close to the Palacio de los Guzmanes, the Romanesque collegiate church of San Isidoro, passing through the Roman wall. It is a must to visit thechurchand, above all,the Museum(optional), where the Holy Grail is preserved, as well as the Panteon of the Kings of León, considered the Sistine Chapel of the Spanish Romanesque.

Nearby, the Cathedral, Gothic style and large stained glass windows, some of them from the 13th century.

Next door, the Plaza Mayor, with a popular style and around it, the Barrio Húmedo, with numerous bars, inns and restaurants to enjoy tasty tapas and the rich and varied Leonese gastronomy
