For those looking to get to know the historic center in depth, we have prepared our Contrastes de León route. In it we can learn the historical character by reviewing the traces of the civilizations that have made this territory their own, from prehistory to the present day. We will start in the Plaza de Santo Domingo, with Gaudí's Casa de los Botines and a wonderful Renaissance Palace, Los Guzmanes. We will enter the Historic Town with the Principalis Gate and the modernist City. We will enter the León Museum, San Isidoro and the Cathedral, the two most important religious enclaves. We will continue through the Barrio Húmedo, the tapas area of León where life comes to a boil after sunset, and we will arrive at the Plaza del Grano.

Astorga is one of the most representative towns in León. Of Roman origin, our route will focus on the traces left by this civilization. We will walk the path that those pilgrims who go to the Camino de Santiago follow, passing through the Páramo to the Órbigo River. This natural enclave became a historical area due to the battles of Don Suero de Quiñones. From this moment, we will enter the historic center of Astorga with the Roman Route.

Nature offers its enthusiasts two of the Castilian-Leonese landscapes par excellence. The first is located in an underground world that hides endless secrets, as beautiful as those that inhabit the surface. The Val Porquero Cave is located at the exit of the Torío River, in a valley that has an entrance from Matallana, some coal mines that make up beautiful rock formations. Continuing through Vegacercera, the gastronomic vein of our land, we will cross the Roman bridge until we reach Hocer, where the steep walls welcome us. At 1,300 meters above sea level is our destination, where we can visit 7 rooms made up of different galleries.

The second destination par excellence is Las Médulas, a World Heritage Site originated by the extraction of gold in Roman times. Currently you can see in the mountains the fruit of the passage of time, a landscape that seems from another planet. The visit will be on foot, to be able to glimpse it in all its splendor, including a walk among vineyards with the Ponferrada Designation of Origin.You will visit a key location in the Templar era, where a spectacular castle is located.
