For those looking to get to know the old town in depth, we have prepared our Contrasts of León route. In it we can learn the historical character by reviewing the traces of the civilizations that have made this territory their own, from prehistory to the present. We will start in the Plaza de Santo Domingo, with Gaudí's house of the Botines and a wonderful Renaissance Palace, that of Los Guzmanes. We will enter the Historic Quarter with the Puerta de Principalis and the modernist City. We will enter the Museum of León, San Isidoro and La Catedral, the two most important religious enclaves. We will continue through the Barrio Húmedo, the tapas area of León where life comes to a boil after sunset, and we will arrive at Plaza del Grano.

Astorga is one of the most representative towns in León. Of Roman origin, our route will focus on the traces left by this civilization. We will travel the path that those pilgrims who go to the Camino de Santiago travel, passing through the Páramo to the Órbigo River. This natural enclave became a historical area due to the battles of Don Suero de Quiñones. From this moment on, we will enter the historic center of Astorga with the Roman Route .

Nature offers its fans two of the Castilian-Leonese landscapes par excellence. The first is in an underground world that hides endless secrets, as beautiful as those that inhabit the surface. The Valporquero Cave is located at the exit of the Río Torío, in a valley that has an entrance from Matallana, some coal mines that make up beautiful rock formations. Continuing along Vegacercera, the gastronomic reef of our land, we will cross the Roman bridge until we reach Hocer, where the steep walls welcome us. At an altitude of 1,300 meters is our destination, where we can visit 7 rooms made up of different galleries.

The second destination par excellence is Las Médulas, a World Heritage Site originated by the extraction of gold in Roman times. Nowadays, you can see the fruit of the passage of time in the mountains, a landscape that seems to be from another planet. The visit will be on foot, to be able to glimpse it in all its splendor, including a walk through vineyards with the Ponferrada Designation of Origin.You will visit a key site in the time of the Templars, where there is a spectacular castle.
