Description of Hiking to the Ring of Picos Extrem 6 days refuge
After hiking different routes, it is time for you to improve yourself and take on a greater challenge. With this trekking activity to the Ring of Extreme Peaks of 6 days, you will be able to take the leap and show yourself what you are capable of. And it is one of the most demanding routes that can be done on the peninsula.
The idea is that, thanks to sleeping in different shelters, we manage to progress with each day until we reach our goal. For that, we will start from the Poncebos Bridge and we will pass through must-see places.
The first day will be spent reaching the Cornión Massif through the Cares Route and the detour of the Canal de Trea to pass our first night in Vega de Ario.
The next morning we will go to a very special place: the Covadonga Lakes, passing through other emblematic points, such as the Pozo del Alemán. That day, upon reaching the Western Massif, we will see the place where we will sleep: the Vegarredonda Refuge, located at 1,410 meters.
On the third day we will walk through the Picos de Europa crossing the Massif from north to south. During the journey we will be able to see chamois and other species in the area and the impressive wall of Peña Santa de Castilla. That night we will spend at the Vegavaño Shelter.
Continuing with another hard day, we will progress to the Valdeón valley to find our next refuge: Collado Jermoso at 2,046 meters of altitude.
And the penultimate day arrives, there is little left! And the time has come to see one of the most representative peaks of the park, Picu Urriellu, a beautiful and symbolic place for mountaineers.
On our last day we have to reach the highest summit: Torrecerredo at 2,648 meters. And stamp our passport in Cabrones. Then we have to descend through the Amuesa Canal to reach the municipality of Bulnes and, from there, to the starting place of our adventure.
