Hiking to the Ring of Extrem Peaks 6 days refuge

After trekking through different routes, the time has come for you to take it up a notch and throw yourself into a greater challenge. With this 6-day trekking activity to the Anillo de Picos Extrem, you will be able to take the leap and show yourself what you are capable of. This is one of the most demanding trekking routes on the entire Iberian peninsula.

The idea is that thanks to sleeping in different refuges, we will manage to progress each day until we reach our goal. To do so, we will leave from the Poncebos bridge and go through places that are must-sees for anyone visiting this area.

The first day will be devoted to reaching the Cornión Massif through the Cares Route and make a detour at the Trea Channel to spend our first night in Vega de Ario.

The next morning we will go to a very special place: the Covadonga Lakes, passing by other emblematic spots, such as the Pozo del Alemán. That day, when we reach the Western Massif, we will see the place where we will sleep: the Vegarredonda mountain shelter, already located at the height of 1,410 metres.

On the third day, we will walk through the Picos de Europa mountains crossing the Massif from north to south. During the journey, we will see chamois and other species of the area, and the impressive wall of Peña Santa de Castilla. On that night, we will stay in the Vegavaño refuge.

Continuing with another day of hard trekking, we will progress to the valley of Valdeón to find our next refuge: Collado Jermoso at 2,046 meters of altitude.

And the penultimate day arrives, there is not much left! And the time has come to see one of the most representative summits of the park, Picu Urriellu, a beautiful and symbolic place for climbers.

For our last day, it will time to reach the highest peak: Torrecerredo at 2,648 metres, but also to get our passport stamped in the one of Cabrones. Then, we will have to descend through the Canal de Amuesa to get to the town of Bulnes and, from there, to the starting point of our adventure.
