Trekking in the Peña Ubiña Massif 4 days

The Cantabrian mountains have more to offer you than Picos de Europa and that is because, with the massif of Peña Ubiña, you will have spectacular peaks which will leave you impressed, both for your beauty and a large number of rocks we can find.

This massif covers several municipalities, because it also belongs to Lena, Teverga and also Quirós, apart from the territory of Babia, which belongs to León. Among the 50 peaks that form this great massif, the most important is Peña Ubiña (2,411 meters) and Peña Rueda (2,155), which is an impressive limestone pyramid.

This area of Asturias assembles a wild environment, with forests of high mountain and fauna characteristic in the Cantabrian. It is because of this diversity and beauty, that you will easily flake out, which has given the consideration of Biosphere Reserve, apart from already constituting the Natural Park of Peña Ubiña.

For four days that we'll need to visit the massif, we will lodge in the same shelter, the one in Meicín, just 1,549 meters high, which is perfect because it is located in the central point in the summit.

The start of the itinerary will be performed from Tuiza de Arriba, from where we will move to the shelter. From here we will climb Peña Cerreos, from where we contemplate Peña Ubiña, which will become our destination for the following day. We'll go down the same section and we will spend  our first night in the shelter.

The second day we will climb Peña Ubiña just 2,417 meters high. First of all, we will climb up  to Terreros to catch the route's direction to the rock. We'll perform the descent on the departure route.

With the third day, we'll perform the circular route, which starts in Tuiza de Arriba, goes through Llegu, a magnificent lake located in the highest point of Puerto de Agüeria, from where we can contemplate Peña Rueda in its splendor. As the latest section, we'll go through Bocarón, from where we will go down and start the way back.

On the last day, we will ascend up to Peña Rueda, from the Lindes village, We will enjoy a nice stroll, to say goodbye to the mountains. It will be a round-trip and will start in the Agüeria port, that finishes in Lindes. 

To avoid carrying unnecessary weight, we offer the option of buying lunch picnic-type for each day of the ascent, at the refuge. Here, you will have blankets, meaning you only need to bring your sleeping bag (thin or blanket).
