Snowshoeing route to Pico Faro in Collanzo 3h

Undoubtedly, the Leonese lands are the most idyllic to visit with snowshoe routes, after all, this province shelters in its interior 7 spaces classified as UNESCO biosphere reserves, this represents the largest concentration of this type of reserve in the world. That is why we have this snowshoe trip to Faro Peak, through the Vegarada port and which has a duration of 3 hours. This exit to the Faro peak is geographically located between the province of León and Asturias.

Our route with snowshoes will have a journey of around 12 kilometers with a linear or circular route and we will be really close to the San Isidro ski resort. For this excursion with snowshoes to Faro peak, we will depart from the Vegarada port and depart from its surroundings, close to the Asturian parish of Collanzo.

After this section we will be greeted by an infinity of colossal peaks that will make us contemplate nature with different eyes, since we will find ourselves immersed in a valley where they will embrace us: Pico Jeje, Pico Nogales and the Pico del Oso and rising on the horizon the Ubiña massif, the Pico Huevo, Pico Morala, Pico Toneo, the Agujas de San Isidro rock, the Mampodre massif, the Alto Bernesga mountains and our longed-for peñas de Faro.

Continuing our snowshoeing route through this valley, we will advance until we get as close as possible to Faro peak. We will walk its slopes and ascend its edges by its edges to contemplate views where we will only see snow and the colossal and endless mountain ranges that will surround us. In addition, our snowshoeing tour through this peak will be adorned by the impressive and unique Pico Faro ice falls. From this moment, and at an average altitude of 1800 meters, we will have little more to know about the mountains of Puerto de Vegarada, we will have rejoiced enough of their surroundings, so we will begin our return trip.
