Snowshoes in Lago Ausente, Picos de Europa

Winter is coming and it's time to put on your snow boots and coat. Don't stay at home and come explore the incredible corners and natural landscapes of the Picos de Europa on a snowshoe route. You will enjoy a spectacular walk through the spaces of the Biosphere Reserves of the province of León and you will live an experience full of emotions and adventure.

It is a snowshoe route to Lago Ausente, a spectacular lake that, when cold, turns into a glacier and offers some Stunning views of the mountains of the Picos de Europa. It is located near the Puerto de San Isidro, in the Riaño and Mampodre Mountain Regional Park and is at an altitude of 1740 meters.

On this route through the Picos de Europa Natural Park, you will cross the Isoba River and ascend a glacier formed by the peaks Ausente and Requejines, from where you can observe the majestic Lago Ausente. It will be a special moment, where you will be able to appreciate the beauty of this corner between the mountains and see the Cantabrian Sea in the background.

Throughout the almost 3 hours of route, you will be guided at all times by our experienced guides, who will also be in charge of providing you with the necessary material strong> for the activity and they will teach you the key techniques to successfully handle the snowshoes. Although no previous experience is necessary to carry out this excursion, it is necessary that you be over 18 years old.
