Snowshoeing to the Seven Peaks in Navacerrada

Without a doubt, a great adventure that will give you an unforgettable day, but it is not for everyone. If this is the first time that you are going to wear snowshoes , better look at another route, like the one we do to La Najarra peak , because this exit to Los Siete Picos is for people who have some experience as it is medium difficulty . A 9-kilometer-long journey awaits us with a 500-meter drop, to which we have to add that we will be walking for 6 hours with quite cold, so if you are a beginner this plan is not for you.

For this snowshoe outing we have everything in mind, from the materials for the excursion to the guide with the itinerary already outlined. Otherwise you can come carefree. The only thing you will have to do is get to Navacerrada , bring adequate clothing for the snow, come with hiking boots (very important), sunscreen, glasses, and something to eat and drink to mitigate the lack of energy during the route.

The exact itinerary of the excursion with snowshoes to the Seven Peaks sometimes varies according to the group, the weather or the accesses, although we usually start it from the Puerto de Navacerrada car park. . From here we take a paved road that will take us to the right side of the Dos Castillas . In this sense, we will join the Schmidt Trail , a route marked by a precious natural beauty since we will be submerged in a forest that will be completely snowed.

We will walk the Schmidt Trail until we reach the Collado Ventoso , and we will be very lucky to be able to contemplate this completely snow-covered environment, because it is one of the most beautiful in the entire Sierra by Guadarrama , and dyed white, takes on a different look. Here we will take a path that goes to the left and that will take us to the mountain range of the Seven Peaks . Taking this path we will arrive first at the second peak of its seven and we will go through its surroundings until we reach the Somontano peak , that is, the seventh and with the highest altitude of all, at 2,138 meters high.

From here we will go downhill to reach the Meadow of the Seven Peaks , one of the best parts of this snowshoe route since we will be immersed in another beautiful forest, whose paths will lead us to the end of this snowshoe outing , leaving us right next to the Dos Castillas .
