Description of Fundació Miró Mallorca

Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró we are a cultural institution located in the workshops where Joan Miró worked for almost 30 years and that the Barcelona artist and his wife Pilar Juncosa granted to the town from Mallorca.

The foundation is a center with an interdisciplinary approach suitable for contemporary artistic creation and for the study of the artist's creative process.

Our mission is to become a space of knowledge where citizens discover the art of Joan Miró.

After Miró's death, his wife donated the artist's legacy, which has nearly 7,000 pieces including paintings, sculptures, drawings, ceramics, murals and graphic works . Furthermore, in the workshop we found a documentary collection and part of the personal library of Miró and Pilar, his wife
.
An artistic wealth with a collection that includes a chronological arc of Joan Miró's artistic development where the influence of American expressionism, oriental art and popular culture can be appreciated.

The foundation's collection has been enriched and grown with the incorporation of works by other artists, among which are tributes to Miró.

We also have aspace for artistic creation and innovation where other artists create their own artistic works in theJoan Miró Graphic Works Workshops.
