The Alberche Valley Nature Museum shows you the nature of the Central System through a tour with themed rooms.
You will have more than 500 pieces exhibited at your disposal so that you can contemplate in the same place the floral and animal species that you can find throughout the Central System. We condense living nature into four rooms that are themed according to different habitats, and a fifth room that is dedicated to hosting temporary exhibitions.
This activity is suitable for anyone. The little ones will delve into the environment and learn first-hand about all the species that inhabit the mountains, and you will be fascinated with a tour of one of the emblematic places of the Iberian Peninsula. If you are not a nature lover, you will become one.
You will begin the tour in the Main Room, which houses a sample of species such as mammals, insects, birds and reptiles. A colony of animals that we can find in the mountains of the Central System. In this way you will know a brief summary of the varied and rich fauna that inhabits it.
In the Forest Room you will learn about the flora in depth. Holm oaks, pine forests and oak forests are just some of the species that you will find in this room. In addition, you can do a mycological review with the edible and non-edible mushrooms of the region.
In the River Room you will discover the vegetation that is located on the banks and the animals that live both inside its waters and on the surface. The setting shows a river course that perfectly emulates a real one. Continuing with the marine world, in the Hunting and Fishing Room you will contemplate these two sports through photographs.
You will be able to learn about the way of life of nocturnal animals without having to risk spending a night in the mountains. Our Night Room shows you the living conditions of the inhabitant species. You can visit birds of prey or contemplate an animal as beautiful as the wolf. The last step inside our facilities is the Temporary Exhibition Room, used to specifically expand knowledge about the environment.
To finish the visit to the Museum, outside a beautiful Botanical Path awaits you made up of 52 floral species such as trees and shrubs typical of the region. In addition, you will have a bird observatory and a mycological trail that is wider than the interior one.
