The surroundings of Archidona reserve an area of nature perfect for doing dozens of activities. At Tajo del Búho we offer a few of these experiences so that your relationship with the environment and sport is fuller. The interior of the province of Malaga is full of mountains, plains, vegetation and lagoons in which to relax and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Our offer focuses on various activities with kilometers of travel through different points of the Northeast region of Malaga , through meadows with holm oaks and pine forests of the Sierra de Gracia , where mammals and birds roam freely. You can observe them with us, following some of the experiences that we explain below:

• Hiking : this region has several paths to follow for a good day of trekking. One of them is Conjuro-La Hoya, for people with good physical ability who want to reach the top of Mount Conjuro and the sites of La Hoya in the Sierra de Funny. The Salinas lagoons are another of our destinations, with two different routes of medium-high difficulty lasting 4 hours. The Hoz de Marín trail, on the other hand, is along the valley of the stream and requires less physical preparation.

• Ornithology : the birds that fly over these places are really abundant. The ornithological routes that we organize are adapted for children, young people and adults through the Cueva de las Grajas , the Salinas lagoons and the Marín stream, to see animals such as the robin, the red duck and the thrush.

• Horseback riding : with departures from the "Las Minas" equestrian center and quiet 1-hour walks through the meadows and olive groves.

• Zip line park : for adventurous children. Near the Archidona hostel is this arboreal park with 3 different areas depending on age and height, so that everyone can jump and climb the pines.

• Bicycle route : 22 kilometers long and passing through the Archidona plain, Mount Conjuro and the Salinas lagoons. A complete tour on your mountain bike.

Are you in the surroundings of Archidona and do you fancy a horseback ride through the pastures and forgetfulness that surround this Malaga municipality? In Tajo del Búho we depart from the Archidona hostel and take you to the "Las Minas" equestrian center , located in the countryside of the Northeast region of Malaga and waiting to take you in a 1 hour route on Andalusian horses.

We will make a circular route through the area between the pines and holm oaks of the dehesa and arriving at the Nieblín stream , in a short route to familiarize ourselves with the natural environment of the interior of Malaga. You do not need to have experience in horseback riding, the route is simple and the animals are docile with everyone, you just have to respect him as he does with you.

The guide will take you through beautiful and very relaxing places, far from the noise of cars and the city, and very close to the sound of running water and the cooing of some of the birds that inhabit this part of Andalusia.

Also, age is not an issue for us. These walks can be done by children over 5 years old , so bring comfortable clothing, sports shoes, long pants and protection against the sun (hat and sunscreen) and water, you will love this tour.

At Tajo del Búho we have taken hiking trails seriously. The surroundings of Archidona allow us to prepare various routes due to its geographical features according to the level of difficulty to which you want to venture. The Northeast region of Malaga has a great variety of plant species (pines, wild olive trees, bushes ...) and birds that we will see along the way, apart from trails with which to discover the natural landscape of the interior of the province.

The routes that you can choose are:

• Sendero de la Hoz de Marín : it is a path of medium difficulty and 19 kilometers long. We will walk for 4 hours along the side of the Marín stream , crossing a unique natural space in Malaga due to its native pine forest, a gallery forest and some singularities such as the outcrop of ofitas (igneous rocks). The route ends at the Vega de Archidona and can be done by children from 8 years of age.

• Routes of the Salinas lagoons : two similar routes through the large lagoon and the small one in the district of Salinas. Surrounding Mount Conjuro and passing through the Archidona plain, the routes of 14 and 21 kilometers have a medium-high difficulty and a very high environmental interest.

• Path of Conjuring-La Hoya : to test the physique. Of high difficulty and with 9 kilometers full of unevenness and nature, we will climb to the top of Mount Conjuro and walk through the peri-urban park of the Sierra de Gracia , in addition to crossing the city of Archidona from north to south and the interior of the Hoya.

You can see that the options are varied and very convincing, now it's up to you to choose.

At Tajo del Búho we have prepared a ornithological route combined with hiking through the natural landscapes of Archidona . The enclaves near this Malaga town in the Northeast region have a spectacular variety of birds, which we will hear singing in their natural habitat and even seeing up close on some occasions.

Above, we adapt the route to all ages, starting with children over 6 years old to adults and older. We will follow an official expert technician in the catalog of bird species that occupy these lands (bee-eater, booted eagle , common kite, musical mosquito net, the finch ...), and depending on the age of the group , the activities are divided into:

• Children : they will make interactive and fun games in which to learn the life of several of these species, which are often difficult to remember if we do not study them well, but with a playful method they will surely be named after robins, wrynecks and red ducks.

• Young : at a certain age, scientific gymkhanas, in which discovering the homes of animals and differentiation according to plumage, color and beak, for example, help more to enjoy and learn ornithology.

• Adults : we will handle the bird guides and observe them with telescopes and photo-trapping cameras , the best way to see closely the movement of our little friends.

The Sickle of the Marín stream , the Rooks cave and the Salinas lagoons are some of the points where we will see dozens of these birds .

Are you in Archidona and want an adventure session in a zip line park ? At Tajo del Búho we bring you closer to an arboreal park of pine trees with dozens of zip lines, hanging bridges and climbing ropes in the northeastern region of Malaga.

Here we organize games for all ages, because we divide the circuit into 3 different colors with their respective obstacles according to age and height:

• Green : for the little ones up to 8 years , more or less. There are very simple bridges and low-height thiolines with which they will have a great time supervised by the monitors.

• Yellow : here the difficulty increases and it is for children over 1.35 in height . crossing from tree to tree is more complicated, so the fun for them will be greater.

• Red : it is the highest level, for over 12 years old . Here the Tibetan bridges, lianas, walkways and even tunnels are chilling and great to have a real adventure among the Archidona pine forests.

The circuits are contracted separately, although it is possible to take a package with two of them in case you want to try the challenges of both.

The security of this park is maximum, in addition to that we will give you a helmet and material to pass the tests. You bring comfortable clothes and appropriate footwear to run without problem at meters high.

The olive groves and meadows that surround Archidona invite us to explore them by bicycle, taking care of the environment and discovering kilometers of nature in the interior of Malaga. In Tajo del Búho we organize bicycle routes through this area of 2 hours , just enough to make a rewarding physical effort and to do rural tourism.

Our departures are from the Archidona lodge and we travel for 22 kilometers the beautiful landscape of the Northeast region, full of pines, wild olive trees, rosemary and thyme bushes and animals such as the fox , the wryneck , the red duck in the lagoons and the wild boar, among many others.

The path crosses the olive trees and the Andalusian pasture, in which we go around the Mount Conjuro and reaching Salinas, which belongs to the municipal complex of Archidona. There are two lagoons, the Big one and the Small one , which we visit before going back the way we came to reach the starting point.

You can bring your own bike, or we will give you one here, to follow our monitor in groups of more than 6 people. The difficulty of the route is medium, so you do not need a great physical shape to do it. And if you come with children, who are over 8 years old , they can also join this route on wheels.
