Bodegas Aura is located in the municipality of Rueda and just 10 km from the historic city of Tordesillas, where in 1494 the Spanish and the Portuguese signed the “Treaty of Tordesillas”, through of which both countries agreed to divide the newly discovered lands of the new world.
Located at 730 meters above sea level on the Castilian plateau, its vineyards are characterized by being exposed to long, cold winters and very hot summers with large temperature differences between day and night, which contributes to achieving a great balance in the biological development of the grape.
Bodegas Aura was founded in 2000 and since then, the purpose of the Domecq group in Rueda has been to contribute to the promotion and development of the area's native variety, the Verdejo grape.
In addition to the winery, you can visit its Verdejo vineyards (native variety of the area) and Sauvignon Blanc (a variety of French origin protected by the Regulatory Council of the D.O Rueda since the 70s) where it is explained to the visitor, at the foot of the field, the biological and vegetative cycle of the vine (origins of the grapes, type of climate, terrain, pruning, harvests, etc.)
Next, we visit its facilities explaining its careful plot-based vinification process to end with a tasting of its Aura Verdejo wine, recognized by critics in the sector as one of the most expressive of the D.O Rueda, recently awarded a medal of silver at Mundos Vini 2007 and a gold medal at the International Japan Challenge.
