In 1861 Francesc Sala i Ferrés founded Casa Sala, the first wine exporting brand in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. In 1914 he started the cava business.
The family business expanded and they began to make the first cava labels with the Freixenet Casa Sala brand. From the first moment they chose to exclusively produce cava, a natural sparkling wine, following the method used in Champagne (France) for a couple of centuries.
In the twenties and thirties, the drive of the founders and the security in the quality of their products had already brought notoriety to the firm.
In 1941, Freixenet launched what, over time, would become one of its star products, cava
Carta Nevada, and in 1974 the Cordón Negro cava, leader in export.
In the 70s we could say that Freixenet was already a completely stable and firm brand with a clear vocation to expand internationally.
From Penedés, a land famous for its wines, Freixenet invites us to visit its cellars and have a tasting. Personalized visits can be made for groups of up to 20 people, and special visits for families with children on weekends.
The visit lasts an hour and a half and includes a video, a visit to the cellars and a tasting.
For more information or to book your visit to the cellars, contact Freixenet, who will be happy to answer your questions and help in any way they can.
