Route through besieged Madrid and the Second Republic

We will have a walk through the years of the Civil War, between 1936 and 1939, when the peninsular capital was under siege of the troops who opposed the Republic. They were intense and hard years both for the population and for the buildings of its streets and squares that are involved in hard assaults as a result of the conflict.

However, most of the fundamental buildings of this vital stage for the development of the capital still remain standing. With this guided tour we will learn which are those and what role they met:

-We will depart from the Temple of Debod because it was the old quarter of the mountain. We will explain the differences between that space today and back then.

Later, we will go towards the heart of the capital, to see what everyday life was like behind the front lines of the Battle of Madrid. You will be surprised to discover that life continued, albeit with limitations: that the militiamen used public transport to reach the trench as if it were another job. That when the aerial combats began, people would come out to contemplate them, but without getting too far away from a subway station or any other anti-aircraft shelter. That the cinemas continued with their billboards, the cafes with their animated gatherings and the radio stations giving parts of the war, of which nobody believed anything.

Meanwhile, the locals and foreigners who left early in the morning from home did not know if they would return safely to her...
