Visit the Madrid of Pérez Galdós special schools

If you are looking for a literary route, to do with your students, we suggest a walk through the Madrid of Don Benito Pérez Galdós, master of realism and journalist of everyday life.

Stroll through the streets and squares of Madrid, remembering this great writer and his characters. We will see how our city happens to be the scene of the joys and sorrows of all of them, we will enter into their lives, we will contemplate how they intersect and, through them we will discover the Madrid of the nineteenth century, a city between reality and Fiction, a city reflecting a convulsive century, but full of political, social and economic changes.

We will speak of Fortunata and Jacinta, the miser Torquemada, the Bringas ones, Doctor Centeno, Benigna and the "Moor" Almudena, the unemployed, and many more. Neither will we forget the National Episodes, a chronicle, almost in real time, of that time, full of wars, conflicts, putsch and struggle for power on a road to progress and S.XX.

It will be a fun way to approach the work of this great writer and to learn or remember one of the most complicated centuries of our history.
