Horse Riding Los Monteros Round Trip Burgos

With the reason to celebrate the Route of Los Monteros, we offer you the chance to perform the same centennial route on horseback for 6 days (3 days to go and 3 to return).

Throughout several centuries existed an order of hidalgos in Espinosa, who took the name Los Monteros with the purpose to protect the counts of Castille, subsequently extending its protection to the Kings of Spain.

The Count Sancho Gracia was the person who enacted the creation of this order, with provision of goods like the Monastery of San Salvador de Oña and different churches of historic and heritage importance.

In the present day, Los Monteros are no longer an order, because after the Franco era the Spanish Royal Guard was established. However, in 2006 they created a route between the towns of Espinosa and Oña, baptizing it with the name of the ancient order where they belong.

The route will be fully performed on horseback which we will provide with all the equipment, making a break to rest in those places you like more. We will have 5 nights in a hotel or rural house during the journey, each one with half board, where delicious breakfasts and dinners are served. For the lunchtime we will perform a typical Castillian food with products of the area.

In every moment you will be accompanied by two experienced guides, apart from a support vehicle for any contingency. You will have a great time. Our guides will show you the best places and they will tell you stories which give complete sense to the route.

*You can bring your own horse and we will be responsible for all the administrative management.
*It is necessary that all participants have a medium high level of horse riding, both for the time of the route as well as the difficulties that could appear throughout the road (firewalls, rivers, ...).
