Los Monteros on Horseback Route Only one way Burgos

For a hundred years "Los Monteros" existed, and took charge of the protection of the Castillian Counts. All of them were noblemen of Espinosa, that extended to the kings of Spain, being Alfonso XII the last one of them.

Nowadays, there's a Spanish Royal Guard that kept the name of Los Monteros on account of this centenary guard.

In the year 1011 the San Salvador de Oña monastery was created, thanks to the Count Sancho García who created that guard. Among the properties of this monastery, there are genuine historical jewels such as the churches of Berruela and Quintanilla. From the year 2006, the Spanish Royal Guard has gone through the tour between Espinosa de los Monteros and Oña, naming it La Ruta de los Monteros (a tour), going over the famous grave of the Count Sancho Garcia. 

In order to carry out this wonderful tour, we propose to do it on a horse for 3 days and 2 nights. We'll provide the horse and the riding equipment necessary to do the activity. You'll always be accompanied by 2 guides that know the tour perfectly, as well as being wonderful horse riding instructors, prepared to guide an explorer group for days. Besides, there'll always be a support car, available for any mishap that may take place.

In order to rest after the hard journey, you'll stay in rural bedrooms with half board (breakfast and dinner). The lunch will be carried out in the country, in a more traditional way.

It'll be a completely unforgettable experience in which you'll learn history, you'll see absolutely incredible landscapes, and you'll enjoy the country and nature like never before.

This is only a one-way tour, so in order to go back to Villasante de Montija we include your transfer and the horses'. 

*For those who want to bring their own horse, you just have to tell us and we'll take charge of all the administrative paperwork and the possibility to take it in a van.
**It's important that the participants have a certain horse riding level since the tour has complications that may turn a bit complicated for a beginner.
