Observing cetaceans and seabirds in their natural habitat, in the middle of nature, has to be one of those things that you have to do at least once in your life.

Being able to contemplate in all its splendor how they move, approach our positions and emit unique noises, must be a unique experience. And it is not necessary to go abroad, to exotic places, to be able to fulfill your dream in reality. Surely you never would have imagined that off the coast of Gijón all this is possible.

You are right. For our outings to watch cetaceans and seabirds in the wild, we use a Lagoon 440 catamaran, with a maximum capacity of 12 people strong>, integrated with 6 cabins and four bathrooms. It is the perfect model since its ergonomics prevent instability and discomfort while browsing.

What is the activity about? It leaves early in order to anchor the fishing grounds of the "cantil" at a prudent hour, the place where the show begins. The boat carries a cargo of 150 kilos of fish as a lure, which will be used to attract the attention of birds that cannot be seen from the coast.

Throughout the journey we are accompanied by a ornithologist guide, in charge of identifying the birds that come to our boat as well as explaining their most notorious characteristics and customs.

Regarding the marine fauna, cetaceans, it must be considered that there is a 70% probability of seeing dolphins and pilot whales, which is quite high. Let us remember that the catamaran is governed by a boat skipper who is a specialist in heading to the best areas where these animals are concentrated.

The native species of the Cantabrian Sea at your fingertips, your camera, your binoculars. An adventure that is hard to forget, full of surprises everywhere.

On the day the activity is held, it is recommended to come with warm clothes, the sea currents, even if the weather is good, are cold, to which we must add the circulation of the machine itself that generates even more wind. Likewise, it would be mandatory to wear a cap and sun cream to protect yourself from the elements of the sun.
