Asturias is a paradise for canyoning thanks to the continuous rains that keep its landscapes green all year round. Where to go canyoning in Asturias?

The canyoning expeditions in Asturias start from the most famous localities among visitors. From Arriondas, you can go to Barranco Rubo for an activity in the upper part of the Sella. The best time to do it is between the beginning of April and the end of October. Taking as a starting point the same base, you have something more intense in the ravines of Vallegón, with the one of Carangas and La Molina, next to the town of Amieva. In them, you will have challenges of medium complexity, such as rappels that reach 20 meters.

It is sure to exceed your expectations and your limits, as well as the caving canyoning in Purón, where you can combine this adventure with the subway expedition. In Ribadesella, besides having most of the canyons of the Picos de Europa, there is a proposal that fits perfectly with school groups. If you are a teacher and are in charge of their next excursion, reserve a date for your students to initiate canyoning in the area of Arenas de Cabrales, less than an hour away. There you will find the steps that every adventurer expects, such as jumps and slides, but without complications to accommodate the younger members of the school.

If you are staying in Llanes, opt for a half-day family canyoning adventure. The companies that have set their headquarters in this town have vans to take you to the beginning of the ravine, choosing those that can be done from 7 years old so that no one has to miss the experience.

The little ones will still have to wait a few years to go with you to the Desfiladero de la Hermida from Celorio. You must be at least 13 years to go down the canyon of Navedo, but it pays to move between slopes that reach 23 meters. If you can't and don't want to leave your children at home, opt for the facilities that will give you the Garganta del Rubo, ideal for a minimum age of 6 years.

Also from Celorio is the Beyos Gorge in the Foz de Viboli. Those who dare with this canyon at the highest level will find one of the most impressive canyons of the Picos de Europa following the bed of the Cándanu.

To the north of the council of Castrillón is Naveces, you can approach to descend through the tributaries that feed the waters of the Nalón. Due to the type of rappels, swimming is recommended for people over 16 years of age.

When your expedition starts in Villanueva de Santo Adriano, it's crucial to go to the section of the Serandi river, there is a spectacular canyon that passes through Proaza. Although one of its slides reaches 8 meters, it is such an easy alternative to be done with children up to 7 years of age. So that nobody gets tired, it can be completed in little more than 2 hours, advancing at a good pace. If you have made descents before, the instructor will recommend you go to Quirós to experiment in the canyons of the Valles del Oso, where the difficulty is medium.

If you go directly to the Asturian capital, in Oviedo, you will have options to travel to the Cantabrian Mountains and see how this adventure works for you. The same happens in Gijón, but, in this case, we suggest that you discover what coasteering is all about with a variant of canyoning on the cliffs that open up to the sea.
