Adventure lovers are in luck, since a new via ferrata has been opened in the province of Guadalajara, more specifically, in the town of Sacedon. After the closure of “Escaleras del cielo” via ferrata, “La boca del infierno” is the only via ferrata currently open in Guadalajara.

If you have never done a via ferrata before, or you don’t know exactly what it is, you don’t have to worry because we will explain very easily. It is a mountaineering activity that includes other exercises such as climbing and trekking, using a series of helpful elements as cramps, footbridges, zip-lines or cables.

A via ferrata climbing route enables us to cover mountain stretches more easily than with traditional climbing. There are horizontally inclined stages which can be covered just walking, being attached to a cable or a zip-line, which will allow us to pass from one mountain to another. Vertically inclined stages can be completed by using cramps and ladders to climb to the top.

The difficulty of via ferratas are classified under the Hüsler scale, which ranges from K1 level, the easiest one, and K6 level, the most complex one, aimed exclusively at experts on excellent physical condition. The parameters that are considered to determine the level of the via ferrata are climbing experience, strength, resistance and psychological aspects.

Other close vias ferratas are “Las Buitreras” or “Estrecho de Priego”, which are in the province of Cuenca and are classified as K3 and K4 levels, respectively. Another one is the K4 level via ferrata of “La Pasarela de Espeja”, in Soria.
